Stag and Does
In Canada, a stag and doe, or buck and doe, is a wedding tradition popular in Southern Ontario. The event is usually organized by the bridal party, but in some circumstances may also be held by the bride and groom before they are married, similar to a combined bachelor party and bachelorette party, or a 'Jack & Jill.' It acts as a fundraiser for to offset the costs of the wedding and honeymoon. Family, friends, and other guests of the bride and groom, purchase entrance tickets and are entertained by draws, food and drink, music and funny games.
Stag and Does - Game Ideas
Tickets for the Stag and Doe - Tickets bought in advance should go for $10/ticket or 2 tickets for $15, if your guests leave it to last minute you could charge more, something like $15/ticket. Selling tickets in advance will help you figure out roughly how many people will show up. Not everyone that buys a ticket will show up, people helping setup and run the stag and doe are not required to purchase these tickets. As an added bonus you could draw a door prize for those that bought a ticket, simply have your guest write their name on the back of their ticket and place it into a draw box... Tickets are non-refundable. * Note: In Ontario, the AGCO considers the selling of Tickets for Raffles & Games to be Gambling
and therefore Illegal......Alcohol cannot be used as a Prize, but LCBO Gift Cards can be used. Games of Skill are allowed, Games of Chance are not allowed. Silent Auctions are allowed.
Pick-A-Card (King of Hearts) - Take a full deck of cards and tape them face down on a large bristol board. Have people buy a card for $2.00 then writes his/her name on the backside of the card. When all of the playing cards are filled up, flip over the playing cards to see who has signed the King of Hearts. The winner is the person who's name appears on the back of the King of Hearts. We suggest using a $25 to $50 gift certificate. Pick-A-Card (Queen of Hearts) - Take a full deck of cards and tape them face down on a large bristol board. Have people buy a card for $2.00 then writes his/her name on the backside of the card. When all of the playing cards are filled up, flip over the playing cards to see who has signed the Queen of Hearts. The winner is the person who's name appears on the back of the Queen of Hearts. We suggest using a $25 to $50 gift certificate. Beer Cap Count - You fill a jar with beer caps. People pay $2 to guess how many caps are in there. The winner is the one who guesses exactly. In case no one guesses the exact number, the winner is the one coming closest without going over. Prize could be a 24 case of beer or gift certificate for The Beer Store. Start telling your friends to save their beer caps. The $100 Giveaway - First your need a crisp $100 dollar bill. Display the bill in a plastic sheet on the table where you're selling the guesses. You must conceal the serial number of the bill by placing a strip of bristol board at the bottom to cover it up. You will have a an approx. 34 X 12 inch bristol board on the table with approx. 100 squares. In those squares are mock serial numbers of the $100 bill. Only one square has the real number. Each person who pays for a guess writes their name in the square. Price the guessing opportunities accordingly.
Toonie Toss - Place a large bottle of alcohol on the floor a mark a line a good twenty feet away. The DJ will have people throw toonies at the bottle and the closest wins. For a challenge, make it the closest without hitting the bottle. Want to make it more challenging, add that the toonie can't pass behind the bottle Keep it going as long as possible. This can make a lot of moola.
Paper Airplane Toss - Organizers will sell standard 8.5" x 11" printer paper to contestants, the contestants will use their sheet of paper to fold and build a paper airplane to throw and see who's plane goes the furthest. The furthest wins the price. However the contestants are not allowed to add or remove anything to the paper, just simply allowed to fold the single sheet of paper. Contestants are allow multiple attempts but must purchase a new sheet of paper or pay to play each attempt of throw.
Hold The Beer Case - This tends to be a big one for guys that get super competitive and because of that it can make a lot of money. Players pay $5 or $ x to see who can hold a beer case straight out with straight arms without bending them. This is timed event and time ends when their arms bend or go down even a little. Whomever has the best time by the end of the event wins the case of beer. My suggestion, use a 24 case of water for contestants to hold, because it will be less likely to make a mess if dropped.
The Great Canadian Whack Off - Again this tends to be a big one for guys that get super competitive and because of that it can make a lot of money. You will need a tree stump, and a hammer and a whole pack of long nails. You keep a board with people's names and how many times they 'whacked' the nail to get it in. The person that drives the nail to the bottom of the stump in the fewest swings wins. Swings count! one nail for $2 or three nails for $5.
Bra Pong - Pin up a bunch of bras (6 to 9 bras should do), ranching in different cup sizes and colours onto a large back board. Sell your contestants 5 ping pong balls, they can either bounce it once and up to a bra, or just toss it towards a bra. The bras closer to the top are worth the most points because they are harder to get and have a smaller cup size, and visa versa for the bras at the bottom as they are easier to get and larger in cup size. Sell 5 balls for $5 or 10 balls for $8 (you can also donate 50% of the profits this game brings in to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, this will drive guests to play more) Crown and Anchor Wheel - The game is played between player(s) and a banker. A crown and anchor wheel and mat marked with six symbols are used for play. The player(s) using the mat places bets on one or more symbols. Once the bets have all been placed the banker will spin the wheel. If the wheel stops on a symbol that has a bet (or bets) placed on that symbol, the banker will pay out each player the amount of their bet for each symbol showing, by multiplying the bet amount by the amount of symbols shown on the wheel. Any symbol that doesn't come up, the player(s) loses the bet to the banker. We suggest that you charge a minimum bet of $1 and a maximum of $5. This is a typically a high profit game, which is why they are so prevalent at Stag & Doe's. Stomp The Balloon - Tie a balloon to the leg of each participant then send them to the dance floor. When the music starts the contestants attempt to pop all opponents balloons. When your balloon is popped you must leave the dance area. Last ones standing wins the prize. This can be done by admission of $2 per person.
Strokin' - Game admission of $5 per couple. Participants must pair up, one of the two partners must place the long, hand bicycle pumps between their legs and the other partner must use the hand pump to blow up two beach balls, or basket balls. Whoever blows up their partner's balls the fastest wins. Prize suggestion: a gift certificate for a romantic dinner for two. Buy A Key Unlock A Prize - Have a locked chest and sell keys to open the chest/box. The person who bought a key that opened the box gets the prize in it. (I'm thinking Canada's Wonderland tickets)
Pie Auctions - For the first part of this you will need two money jars one for the bride and the other for the groom, whom ever has the most money collected in that persons jar will receive a pie to their face. Who gets to hit the victim in the face with a pie you ask?... Later in the evening you will action off who will get to hit the loser in the face with the pie. Highest bid wins, Going Once, Going Twice, SOLD!! You need to purchase some tin trays, spray cans of whipped cream, some large garbage bags, a large barber cape/gown cloth, paper towel and have a chair for the poor victim to sit. Additional Games to Play or Not...Your Choice
Jail - You will nominate someone to be the sheriff, to put a "friend" in the jail cell. The sheriff can handcuff the hands together and walk them over to the jail and leave them in there (usually people pay $1 a minute). The inmate can then bail themselves out or someone else can bail them out by paying double.
Fish Insurance - Guests pay $1 to be insured, if they don’t buy it and win a prize they have to swallow a fish to get the prize…
